After reading:
- Ask: How did the children who were teased or called names feel?
- Have you ever been called a name or teased in a mean way? Identify some of the name calling that happened in the story.
- Instead of using words that hurt, what are some words we can use that make a person feel good about themselves. Have students draw self-portraits and then pass them around the class. Each classmate should write a word that describes something good about that person.
- What can we do when we hear someone being called a name or being picked on?
